ARTESANTANDER faces its twenty third edition, definitely re-founded as a "Festival of Projects", adapted to a new reality of the market of art, and of society in general looking for essentially better management of available resources, to obtain better accessibility, profitability and efficiency.
This is possible by the enormous capacity for manoeuvring it allows you total support of both institutions that organize the fair (Ministry of Education, Culture, and Sport of the Government of Cantabria, and Santander City Council) to its management team, allowing them to remain expectant everything that can enhance the fair, and adapt to the different scenarios.
The fair will be taken between the 26th to 30th July 2014, in the Palace of Exhibitions and Congresses of the city of Santander, coinciding with the course "Curating and collecting contemporary art", to be held within the program of the International University “Menéndez Pelayo” (UIMP), - a joint initiative of the Institute of Contemporary Arts, and the Association of Private Collectors of Contemporary Art 9915 to promote a collective reflection on the importance of collecting and the intellectual work cultural mediator-, under the direction of Glòria Picazo, and Tania Pardo by the academic secretary, and it will have got among their speakers to those responsible for collections (JUMEX Collection, CV Collection, CIRCA XX, “La Caixa” Foundation, among others).
At
the same time, we have attended the presentation of the piece of
public art of Carsten Höller, which is the beginning of that great
laboratory of creativity and emotions who desires to become Centro
Botín, and it may have got, in this way, a first approximation to
the work of the artist who has been chosen by the interaction between
his works and the city and its strong interest in analyzing the
nature of the emotions of the visitors to the exhibition which will
open the Center, in a exhibitin curated by Vicente Todolí and Udo
Kittelmann. And, in addition, the Museum of Santander will
offer
a first approximation to the "Lafuente´s Archive" with the
exhibition "The
Idea of art",
curated by Javier Maderuelo, with an appendix on the MeBAS space
curated by Maurizio Scudiero.
The applications forms to participate in ARTESANTANDER 2014, will be previously evaluated by the selection Committee of the fair, formed this year by: Elena Vozmediano, Alicia Ventura and Juan Silió.
The Committee will select the projects depending on their quality and shall send the invitation of assistance to the galleries and selected projects. Requests can be sent to the address of the fair until 4th June by mail (info@artesantander.com) day in which ends the deadline to apply for space at Artesantander.
ARTESANTANDER keeps Collectors Program, from this moment encouraging the presence of responsible for museums, art centers and collections with the intention of becoming an observatory of proposals, a "hotbed" of artists accessible to the heads of national and international contemporary art.
