Extensive revamping as ST-ART celebrates its 20th anniversary

With a new management team in the driving seat, the 20th edition of ST-ART is fuelled by a fresh, dynamic approach.

In March 2014, GL Events, a major player in the world events market, gained a holding in Strasbourg Evénements.

Jean-Eudes Rabut, CEO of Strasbourg Evénements, decided to lay down a 3-year strategic plan. “My aim is to turn the Fair into a true institution with a visibility worthy of the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg, add the analytical perspective of an art critic and professionalise the services provided for visitors so that when these 3 years are up, ST-ART offers a renewed selection of French and foreign galleries thereby setting it on the podium it deserves on the art fair scene in France and abroad.”

Inviting a renowned cultural institution

From 2015, ST-ART will give place of honour to a renowned national or international cultural institution.

Our first guest institution is MEP, the Maison Européenne de la Photographie, which will present its collections through a video programme and a solo photographic show covering 100 m².

The creation of new centres of interest: photography, publishing

In parallel, ST-ART is setting up a photography area by selecting galleries specialised in this field.

A new publishing area will pave the way to welcoming well-known publishers through presenting both renowned and emerging artists.

A new architecture for the Fair

To make the Fair easier to navigate and provide greater visibility and interpretation of the artists and the art movements highlighted by the galleries, ST-ART has decided to reorganise the Fair into broad sets of artistic trends.

Broaching the exhibition from a professional perspective

Each year, ST-ART will be asking a well-known art critic to write the catalogue preface and give his or her view of the artists, artistic movements and galleries exhibiting at the Fair. The following year, the art critic will benefit from an exhibition area to showcase a selection of works. Michel Nuridsany will be inaugurating this approach in 2015.

ST-ART – firmly rooted in Alsace

An extra-mural programme will be set up starting this year to explore the importance of contemporary statue works in Strasbourg.

A better quality of service for visitors

ST-ART is raising the quality of its services by setting up a reception facility, a service for packing and delivering art works, and an information desk on tax exemptions for purchasing art works. All these facilities will be a boon to contemporary art lovers and collectors.
