工作: Nelson-Atkins Mus.

评论: Emigrated to America about 1866. He is listed as either artist" or painter in the New York City Directories from 1866/67 to 1873. Exhibition records suggest that he may have briefly returned to Munich in the 1870s, but he was back living in Brooklyn in 1873, remaining there for most of the rest of his life (except for 1876-79, when he was again in Manhattan). A number of his still-life paintings survive. His name was frequently misspelled as "Foster." Both of his sons, George, Jr., and Henry, were painters. It is possible that paintings by the son have been attributed to the father (who signed his work, "G. Forster").
