评论: She grew up in Chicago and won her first award for a pencil drawing at age twelve. After studying for four years she opened her first studio in Chicago at age 22, in 1874. Shaw painted from nature and during the summers she traveled to various parts of the country to paint on location. She also became a well-known art teacher at the Chicago Acad. of Design. She later opened studios in NY (1881-84) and Boston (1884-85) and her work was bought by leading collectors of the time. A solo exhibition and sale held at the Art Institute of Chicago after her death included 241 oil paintings and 50 watercolors; of which very few can be found today. None of her etchings are presently located.
