评论: From 1914-16, he designed stained glass windows for L. C. Tifany Studios and worked as a commercial lithographer. He was a member of the Communist Party and a political activist. From 1916 through the 1940s, his pro-worker and anti-war illustrations appeared in many magazines and newspapers. From 1926-33, he was co-founder of The New Masses. He painted large murals for the Workers Cafeteria at Union Square and the Center Theater at Rockefeller Center (both in NYC). From 1938-39, he was employed by the WPA/FAP mural division and painted murals for the WFNY. He also illustrated books such as Aesop Said So 1936; Century of the Common Man 1943, and others. During the 1950s-70s, he remained active designing posters, banners, and murals for union and political activities.
