评论: In 1910 he was a professional baseball player in Detroit, but his brother convinced him to pursue a career in the arts. In 1913, he became a commercial artist in Chicago. He is best known for his Western subjects. He was a U.S. Navy Lt. Comdr. during WWII under Admiral Nimitz; was a camouflage artist; and produced a series of WWI battle scenes in the Pacific. His wife Blanche Lanaghen (d.1959) was also an artist. Position: teacher & founder, Frontier School of Western Art, Cody, WY 1937.
