评论: Kaufmann came to America about 1850, having taken part in the Revolution of 1848. His studio was in NYC until the Civil War, in which he saw active service for the North. He is best known for his Civil War paintings. He is said to have taught Thomas Nast in NYC, c.1855, and W.H. Homes in Wash., DC, 1872. In 1871 he published American Painting-Book. Also appears as Kauffman.
