评论： Greenleaf took up portrait painting to pay his way through Dartmouth College. After his graduation in 1813, he became a teacher in HaverhiIl. From 1814-36 he was preceptor of Bradford Academy, Bradford (MA) and it was during these years (until about 1825) that he painted most of his known portraits on glass. After three years in the state legislature (1837-39), Greenleaf founded the Bradford Teachers' Seminary which he headed until 1848. His textbooks, particularly in arithmetic, were widely used.
