评论: Beginning in 1935, he painted rhythmical, elongated figures in local Montgomery scenes. With several friends, he formed an art center/gallery called the "New South" at which he presented his discovery exhibition of the works of Bill Traylor (see entry), and dedicated the rest of his life to preserving and documenting the works of this African-American "outsider" artist.
