评论: Was brought to Clinton, IA in 1880. He worked for the Chicago Tribune as a staff artist and in 1904 was art editor of a literary magazine in Battle Creek, MI. In 1907 he worked in Wilmington, DE, as an illustrator and was well known by the 1920s for his work in Saturday Evening Post and other magazines and books. He made his first trip west in 1924 and kept a summer studio near the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana. Later he also visited California and Wyoming, photographing and sketching.
