评论： Son of the noted silhouettist Auguste Edouart (see entry), Alexander was educated at Edinburgh, and studied art in Italy. He was living in NYC in 1848-50. About 1852 he went out to California where he spent the rest of his life, except for a brief trip to Europe about 1859. Though he painted some California landscapes, he was best known as a photographer in San Francisco. In 1889 or 1890 he moved to Los Angeles. Cf. Alexander Edward.
