评论： The second son of John Wesley Jarvis (see entry), he was brought up by his mother's family, the Burtises of Oyster Bay, Long Island. About 1828 he was apprenticed to Henry Inman (see entry), with whom he worked in NYC and Philadelphia until 1834. Returning to NYC he established himself as a portrait painter and worked there until his death.
