He remained in Rogersville until 1852, painting portraits there and in Eastern Tennessee, while also teaching drawing and painting at the Odd Fellows' Female Institute (1851). His travels are unknown from 1852 until the death of his wife in January 1856, when he returned to Rogersville. The artist moved to Knoxville in 1859 and during the 1860s painted portraits throughout Eastern Tennessee, including Russellville (1863). Moved to Jerseyville, IL, in 1868.
