评论: An artist of apparently poor health, he studied in Paris and then remained in France for ten years. He shared a studio in the village of Dinard with painter John Lewis (his future brother-in-law). In 1857, Thorndike returned to NYC, and during the 1860s, he kept a studio at the Tenth Street Studio Bldg (NYC) and in Newport, RI where he painted Tonalist landscapes. Little is known about his 1868-86 period, except that by 1885 he was living in Boston.
