评论: Impaired through a childhood disease, he lived most of his life on the family farm, taking trips around the Delaware valley, visiting Britain in 1885-86, Southern Calif. c.1893, Britain and France in 1897-98, the Hudson River Valley in 1902 and the Delaware Water Gap in 1911. Specialty: hist. subjects; arch. views and landscapes. Drew and engraved a view of the Wren Building of the College of William and Mary. His American Memorial Etchings set (1904-10), published in New York received wide-spread distribution and is mentioned in Frank Weitenkamp's American Graphic Art, 1912. Most of his surviving paintings are bucolic watercolors. He was a contemporary of Wilmington artists Howard Pyle and J.D. Chalfant (see entries on both).
