评论: After coming to the U.S. as a refugee, Sterne became a well-known surrealist and Abstract Expressionist. Her work became increasingly non-objective in the 1950s. Throughout her career she has also painted strange, over-sized portraits of friends, such as Elaine De Kooning and Harold Rosenberg. Teaching: instructor in art history, Carbondale College, 1964; conducted workshop for art teachers, NY State Council Arts, 1968. She married artist Saul Steinberg in 1947 (they separated in the 1960s).
