评论: He came to NYC as a child, c.1865; by 1870 he was a sailor, sailing widely for five years. In 1872, he married and settled in Hoboken, NJ; then in Jersey City, 1890. He produced many ship portraits, which were published as chromolithographs for postcards, picture puzzles, sheet music, and prints; and he produced marine illustrations for Harper"s Weekly. He also collaborated with Charles Parsons and Milton Burns. Most of his lithographs were made by Knapp & Co. and American Lithographic Co. In 1912, he produced his best-known series of ship portraits, being eighteen paintings of the fleet of the Nantasket Beach Steamboat Co.
