评论: Arrived in San Francisco in 1857 and became one of the earliest California artists to concentrate on landscapes. In the 1860's he painted and exhibited mountainous scenes of Yosemite, Mt. Shasta, and Mt. Hood, and views of the Oregon's Columbia River area. He traveled to the East coast and to Europe from 1867-69, after which he returned to San Francisco. His work was greatly praised in these years and sold at high prices. He died while visiting his family in Maine.
