评论: Cope became a trompe l"oeil painter about 1887, undoubtedly inspired by the works of William Harnett. His subjects often included hunting gear or fishing tackle. Even though he was highly skilled, his pursuit of this style lasted only through the 1890s, and his paintings were exhibited only locally. He later painted more common still lifes, and even minature landscapes based on a trip to Florida.
