评论： Probably English-born, he was the nephew of the British landscape painter, Francis Grose [c.1731-1791]. He probably settled in Canada because his romantic landscapes, particularly those of the Montreal and Quebec areas, are in all major Canadian museums. However, his paintings of American scenes have appeared on the market, showing that he also worked in Maine, the Hudson River Valley, Connecticut, and the Rockies from the 1860s-80s. He married artist Estella Grose c.1880, and they went on a five-year tour around the world.
