评论: After a long career as a kitchen maid and field hand on a cotton plantation, she started painting in the 1930s, picking up a brush left behind by a New Orleans artist. Her subjects were plantation scenes, religious ceremonies and community life, predominantly of Blacks in the rural South. She painted more than 5000 works.
