评论： Ruth and her husband Samuel traveled as a husband-wife team through New England and upper NY state, painting primitive portraits of 19th century small-town Americans. Their works appear to be painted primarily in watercolor, with pencil and gouache, although they also produced some oils and pastels. From 1827 (when they were married) until 1839, Ruth alone painted at least thirty works. After Samuel died in 1836, Ruth continued to paint, but in 1840 and she married Mr. Alpha Tarbell and moved to Kentucky.
