评论: He came to America c.1855, spent several years in NYC, but settled in Richmond (VA) about 1857. He lived in Richmond for the next fourteen years and many of his portraits are preserved there. By 1871 he had moved to Wash., DC. He is best known for his paintings portraying events associated with the Civil War.
