评论: A member of an Austrian aristocratic family, he immigrated to the U.S. in 1886 and gained recognition painting landscapes and hunting scenes. He led European nobility on hunting trips in the Northwest c. 1892-93, and began painting the Western landscape. Commissioned by the Great Northern Railroad, he painted the scenery along the railroad through the West, thus contributing to the creation of Glacier National Park.
