Our selection of sculptures

[2022年09月08日]

From time to time, Artmarket scans the proposals by our partner galleries on the Artprice Marketplace to pick out a selection of ‘favorites’. The latest selection honors abstract sculpture, including some essential signatures of the 20th century, such as Lynn Russell CHADWICK and Vassilakis TAKIS.

Each year, more than 10,000 contemporary sculptures are traded at auction around the world and there is strong demand from collectors for three-dimensional works. Artprice’s global market data for 2021 showed that sculptures attracted a total auction turnover equivalent to 1.2 billion dollars around the world, all periods of creation combined.

If sculpture seduces it is perhaps because it is so fluid: it offers a permanent flow of shapes, materials, balance, lines, masses, and transparency; it questions the full as well as the void and changes our relationship to space. Sometimes it appears to be in movement… and invites us to do the same!
