Tharrats trained at the Escola Massana in Barcelona and showed his work in public for the first time in 1941 at the Casino de Caldetes. In 1948, he was one of the founding members of the Dau al Set group – together with Antoni Tàpies, Modest Cuixart, Joan Ponç, Joan Brossa and Arnau Puig – and was the main driving force behind the circle’s journal of the same name.
