Francesco CASANOVA - Landscape with Peasants Resting near a Waterfall

Can be dated to his Italian years and  compared to two drawings with Christies’ NY in 1992 showing “A Runaway Wagon in a Storm” (Illistrated) and “A Cavalry Skirmish”, which are of the same dimensions and technique, therefore may once have belonged together in an album. Other comparative drawings were at Drouot in  5/1991, "Herdsmen with their Animals" and in 3/1989 "Festivity outside a Town", and a drawing in the Art Gallery of Ontario showing "Farmers at a Table" (inv.no. 65/53). Similar "Herdsmen with Animals" can be found in his paintings in the Staeattische Kunstsammlung in Augsburg (inv.no.6187), at Dulwich College in London (inv.no.138)
