作品描述
The artist of the painting is Alexandre-Jean Dubois-Drahonet. The artist's prolific activity as a portraitist at the royal court is known, substantiated in numerous paintings and pencil sketches, especially of military costumes (Windsor Collection), starting with the Portrait of the Duke of Bordeaux (Bordeaux Museum). Dubois-Drahonet was also commissioned by King William IV of England to document the uniform of the British army; subsequently committed to Charles X of England and his entourage, the artist returned to France in order to service Louis Philippe of Bourbon-Orleans, Duke of Orleans and Chartres. The results of his portraiture activity in many world museums are extremely widespread, like the portraits of Achille Deban de Laborde (1817, Williamstown, Clark Art Institute), Helena Margaretha van Dielen (1823, Utrecht, Centraal Museum), Lucretia Johanna van Winter ( 1825, Amsterdam, Collection Six) and finally Johan Carel Willem Fabricius van Leyenburg (1823, Frans Hals Museum).
