obvious. The perestroika Russian Renaissance (1985-91) allowed artists to taste the hitherto forbidden fruit of modern painting. Maltsev said it was then that his works were recognized by the official culture and aroused
tremendous interest from foreign critics, collectors and gallery owners.  In 1988, he found himself abroad for the first time. His work was of great interest in Norway, Sweden, Spain, Brazil, Korea, America etc. Works of the Russian period, including painting and graphics, are monochrome, laconic, sometimes almost ascetic as here. The favorite color are then various shades of brown, ocher, sienna with creamy white interspersed with details.
