Swedish collection of Vallberga. The street corner shop of the village is observed in a bird's-eye view. The personal and remarkably critical slant -though all in suggestion- of Mattheuer is turned towards the observation of the closed blue food shop unsupplied. People are on both sides helpless, separated by the building (the Berlin Wall ?) despite bearing the same unsatisfaction and distress. The relationship of the individuals and of the community is then mixed with the veiled question of the unsufficient food supplies in the DDR behind the Berlin Wall. Art from the GDR from the official painters as Wolfgang Mattheuer had to cope with the strict guidelines of Socialist Realism. Confirming that the most heterogeneous forms of artistic expression developped despite a very patronizing system. 6 pages study available by email
