These archaic forms derive their incantatory character from his trip to Mexico in 1962, where he discovered the Mayan temples.
A very personal and rare early painting conjuring probably the Maya lost civilization visited in 1962. At least, this very personal work evokes a spiritual and abstract approach of the Mayan possibly mixed with other memories. Like his dark, monochromatic later paintings, the structures evoked recall those of his drawings of the period as shown hereafter in numerous instances. 10 pages study available by email.
