Henri Michaux est un dessinateur « halluciné », marqué par les surréalistes qu’il fréquente très tôt puis par la Chine dont il regarde intensément la calligraphie.  Il se refuse cependant à une « écriture fixe ». C’est ainsi qu’observant ses dessins à l’encre de Chine des années 50, les collectionneurs ont devant eux une image toujours différente, relevant cette poésie hallucinée de ces années-là. Son œuvre est très intellectuelle.

Henri Michaux is an “hallucinated” designer, marked by the surrealists whom he frequented very early, and then by Chinese calligraphy he studied intensely. However, he refuses to adopt a “fixed writing”.
When collectors look at his Chinese ink drawings from the 50s, they see an ever-changing image, reflecting the “hallucinatory” and spellbinding poetry of those years.
