Commentaire/Comment
Il s’agit de l’œuvre préparatoire pour le tableau néo-impressionniste « La Lavandière » d’H.E. Cross datant de 1896-1897, alors au sommet de son art divisionniste.
Avec ces touches rapides et la symphonie harmonieuse de vert, bleu et rose, la Lavandière semble danser et respire la joie de vivre. Cross célèbre l’harmonie de la femme avec la nature.
This is the preparatory work for the neo-impressionist painting “La Lavandière” by H.E. Cross from 1896-1897, then at the peak of his Divisionist art.
With its rapid brushstrokes and harmonious symphony of green, blue and pink, the Washerwoman (la Lavandière) seems to be dancing, exuding “joie de vivre”. Cross celebrates the harmony between woman and nature.
