Ai Weiwei [Art Edition] is a comprehensive monograph on the life and work of the famous Chinese conceptual artist who has attracted much attention for his activism, his subversive art, and his uncompromising stance on freedom of expression. In addition to essays by curators, art historians, and Chinese cultural experts, the book has seven full-page cut-out illustrations in the style of traditional Chinese paper-cut art but featuring some of the artist’s most famous contemporary (and irreverent) works. The work is wrapped in a scarf of Chinese silk and comes with a book stand made of marble from China’s Fangshan district.
