Carlo VANCHIERI - Le Cassate del Cassaro

This one, is a little painting dedicated to Palermo.

It's just like it consists of our different Cultures (not coincidentally, "Cassaro" embodies the old town's heart): starting from baroque doodles, to Arab-Norman decorations, the whole represented through "Cassate" (typical Sicilian pastry cakes) where colorful syrup fruits broaden all over the white icing.

Tones constantly remind of Palermo: a little bit of pink, spreads right on the background; it is the City main color and, also, the one that features Santa Rosalia. Pistachio green, is also visible on the background, symbolizing the Cassata's green itself and, yet, red cherries and orange tangerines.

The frame (originally bought at a flea-market) consists of a typical red Palermitan shade.
