DESCRIPTION OF ARTWORK
Carlos Catasse (1944-2010) was a Chilean-born Ecuadorian artist who exhibited extensively across SouthAmerica and Europe during the course of his career and was the recipient of numerous awards.
The subject work features a square-shaped landscape presented from a raised perspective. A cluster of houses lines the center of the composition, surrounded by an irregular patchwork of rural sections of land. The painting is rendered with gestural brushwork in a palette of predominantly orange, yellow, and brown tones.
