Mauro Perucchetti’s sculptural practice engages with conceptual, minimalist, and pop art traditions. Perucchetti is perhaps best known for his resin sculptures, in which he combines classical and contemporary production methods. In these works – including the present 'Jelly Baby Family' – Perucchetti is interested in eliciting both visceral and visual stimuli. He explores the tension between the critical role of the artist and the ability to connect people through humorous, light symbolism that speaks to contemporary urban living. His sculptures are symbolic, merging iconic Pop motifs with social commentary to address issues such as the relationship between the family unit and today’s modes of production and consumption.
